Different Types of Carpet Cleaning Products for Your Carpet Cleaning Process

Carpet cleaning is done to remove dirt, stains, and allergens in carpets used for indoor or outdoor applications. The different techniques used include dry-clean, hot water extraction, steam cleaning, and vacuum carpet cleaning. Dry-clean and hot water extraction methods are usually employed in residential carpet cleaning while steam cleaning is best suited for carpet cleaning in commercial settings. Vacuum carpet cleaning can be used on a carpeted house or in a mobile home.

Dry carpet cleaning involves applying a liquid detergent solution to the carpet and working it into the fibers using a machine. A dry vacuum cleaner is then employed to vacuum the solution out of the carpet. A detergent solution can contain formaldehyde, dyes, solvents, alcohols, or chemicals. These can cause damage to the lungs and cause allergic reactions to people who are already sensitive to these ingredients. Also, people with respiratory ailments such as asthma should avoid dry carpet cleaning. It causes flammability and releases fumes that are harmful to your lungs.

Hot water extraction is a method of dry carpet cleaning wherein hot water is pumped over the carpet, the fibers are scraped, and the dirt and stain is extracted with the water. Steam vacuum cleaners extract the dirt using high-pressure steam that is able to penetrate deeply into the fibers of the carpet. High heat helps loosen dirt particles that were embedded deep in the fibers of the carpet. Vacuum cleaners that employ this method are best suited for hard-to-remove stains from hard-to-reach areas such as tight corners. This method can also help remove moths and mildew from a carpet.

Dry carpet cleaning cleaners do not extract the residue with water but instead use a dry compound or absorbent compound. This solvent residue is left behind in the carpet. Absorbent compounds can be a combination of materials such as latex, foams, polyurethane or dry chemicals. This residue does not leave a sticky residue on the carpet unlike solvent extracts that leave a sticky residue.

With the rising concerns about the environmental impacts of household detergents, manufacturers have come up with more natural and green detergents for carpet cleaning. These detergents do not contain any bleach, dyes or lanolin. They are made up of crushed chemicals that produce a foamy, slushy cleanser for deep down dirt and stains. This detergent is easier to manage because it is still able to perform its intended tasks even if left in the carpet for a longer period of time.

Carpet cleaning products are available in many forms in the market today. In addition to the traditional liquid, powder, or granular cleaners, there are dry chemical products that can effectively remove dirt and stains without leaving a wet residue. If you are looking for an eco-friendly option to your carpet cleaning process, consider using green detergents that are formulated from plant-based chemicals like coconut oil and castor oil. These environmentally friendly chemicals do not cause health hazards to humans or pets and are better than conventional cleaners.
